Tyler Perry Canceled Live Tour

In an apologetic note to fans posted on his website Monday, Tyler Perry announced that he has pulled the plug on his current “Madea Gets a Job” tour.

“This was the last live Madea tour and I’m super-sorry that you won’t get to see it live. All refunds should be given back to you,” he wrote on http://www.tylerperry.com .

Perry, who brought the play to Detroit’s Fox Theatre in April, said he’s ending “Madea Gets a Job” because bootleggers and ticket scalpers have made ticket prices outrageous and because scammers are trying to sell bogus backstage access.

“This is so frustrating! Why are people so evil? Why can’t people just get legitimate jobs and stop trying to do the wrong thing all the time?” Perry wrote. “If they put the same amount of energy into doing the right thing as they do in doing the wrong thing, they could make it. It’s so sad.”

He added that though he gets “great joy” out of connecting with audiences, he has been dealing with troubling ticketing issues for years. “Now with the Internet, I’ve never seen it this bad,” he added.
